A Short History of Rose Park

In April of 1956 The Classical Church Extension Committee met with interested church members and ministers for the purpose of organizing a new Reformed Church. The first worship service was held in the hallway at Pine Creek School and was led by Rev. J.M. Hogenboom.

In 1957 Rev. Charles VanderBeek accepted the call and Rose Park Reformed Church was organized. On July 21, 1957 thirty-three families, sixty-nine communicant members and sixty-three baptized members united with the church for the first service in the new building. The congregation grew rapidly and we soon began to see a need for more space. A congregational meeting was held and without a single negative vote the congregation took the necessary steps to erect a new church sanctuary.  In September 1969, installation services were held for our second Pastor the Rev. Paul VandeHoef, who served Rose Park until August 1979. Rev. Phillip J. Schuiling was installed as our third Pastor. Rose Park continued to experience growth. Rev. Daryl A. Vetter became the Minister of Discipleship. As growth continued, a building project was undertaken for additional classrooms and offices. In 1992 Rev. Carl Balk was installed. He recently retired in December of 2005. In August of 2006, we welcomed our new Pastor, Dave VanOpstall and his wife Tracy.
