Whining, Patience, & Job

Dear Rose Park Family,

Today’s letter comes from our beloved Mary Wisner…

True confession. I may choose a different aisle, so I don’t have to follow whiny children or an irritable parent. Don’t get me wrong. I love children just not when they whine. I feel for irritable parents having to take them to the store.

There is a lot of whining going on especially on the part of Job. Job curses the day he was born. His friends complain that Job is missing the big picture and make excuses for God. Though much of what they say is true they miss the point of Job’s suffering all together. It isn’t until the end they are all set straight. I see here an infinitely patient God.

Scripture tells us that God is patient for a reason. His patience leaves room for repentance and salvation (2 Peter 3:9). As Christians we are exhorted to be patient with one another (Eph. 4:2). Patience is a fruit of the spirit.

Need more proof? Use a concordance to find more verses and situations where patience is mentioned. So, I pray for more patience. Under what circumstance do you need more patience?

Blessings,

Mary Wisner
