Mr. Generosity

Dear Rose Park Reformed Church Family,

This week’s letter comes from our beloved Mary Wisner…

We could call God, Mr. Generosity. Of all His attributes that have been highlighted in recent letters, generous is not one that comes quickly to mind. Not only did He restore Job’s fortunes two-fold, but throughout the story His resources never seem to end. He could have been stingy and demanding or given with conditions. Instead, His time, provision, patience and mercy were freely and generously given. This is seen throughout scripture.

In recent months, Larry and I have been embroiled in a controversy with our neighborhood association. Our emotions run the gambit, from pay back and resentment to impatience and fear. Benefit of the doubt is usually not one of them. We want to be right, but above all we want to represent Jesus. Do you hear yourself using phrases like: “I’ve run out of patience.” “He doesn’t deserve it.” “We don’t have it to give.” “I don’t love you anymore.” God’s resources are endless, accessible through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Marvel at the way He has generously given to you. Wonder at the resources that are within you. Mine them regularly. Be generous with them for the One that lives within you is Mr. Generosity.

The Peace of Christ be with you,

Mary Wisner
