A Practice of Giving

Dear RPRC family,

This week’s letter comes from Mary Wisner…

Throughout our (Larry and I) marriage we have taken seriously God’s command to give. We have approached giving differently over the years but have always discovered that we cannot out give the LORD. Two verses in scripture found in Malachi 3:10 and the other in Proverbs 3:9,10 have shaped our practice of giving.

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there will be food in my house and thus put me to the test…see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.”

“Honor the LORD with your substance and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”

We have “put God to the test” and experienced His blessings firsthand. How about you? Where have/can you stretch your giving?

Blessings,

Mary Wisner

FYI: a tithe = 10%.  It doesn’t have to stop there. Other passages speak of tithes and offerings.
