And Everything In It

Dear Rose Park Reformed Church Family,

This week’s letter comes from our beloved Mary Wisner…

It’s not unusual to hear children as they play say, “It’s mine.” I once observed a youngster accumulate toys around him, laying claim to them. He wasn’t playing, and no one was playing with him. Though not as overt, adults have the same propensity.

The words of David in Psalm 24:1 remind us that nothing is ours. It all belongs to the LORD.

“The earth is the LORD’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.”

This is a world view that is foundational to being a Godly giver.

What is your take on your money and possessions? (It’s mine. I work hard. I deserve it. I need it. It’s not mine to begin with. You can’t take it with you.)  Think of what might change if you adopted a Biblical worldview.

Blessings, Mary Wisner

P.S. I know that giving and money are touchy subjects. There are many individual circumstances of which I am not aware. We are more inclined to think of this topic as personal, not raising it at all. The Bible speaks of money and giving frequently. So, I dare to write of it here. I hope you will bear with me over the next few weeks, not be too offended, and take on the challenges that are offered.
